Our turtles are hatched in Kalutara beach

To see the begining with video clips, go to the end of this post.

Now is to rent a car and collect neighbors children.

Picture 1: We are now at Hikkaduwa beach ready to launch them. Seven hours after they come up.

Picture 2 and 3: We have 15 turtles and 15 children. Each child can then launch their turtle.

Picture 4:Can you see the turtle. I know that there is a zoom butten, but everything happened so quickly.

Picture 5: We get a visit from an old big turtle.

Picture 6: Mission completed. Do not think any of these children will eat turtles eggs. Also believe that they can influence the adult.

Picture 7: Before we go home it will be lunch at the Blue Shadow in Hikkaduwa. All the kids are happy.

Picture 8: Kotta leads the singing. The mood is high.

At 03.00 hrs 16/1, they come up. It was 50 days, which they needed for hatching and digging. You see here the first turtle coming up. The first thing I saw was a small paddle that moved. I touched it and realized it was true. An exciting feeling of happiness came over me.

Now take Kotta the first one and place it in the container. I have been studing the web in order to reach their optimum. See the website which I considered authoritative. TURTLE

A littel fellow traying to run away. but we catch her/him. By the way, do you know when and what affect it, if it will bee a boy or girl?

Peacock Hotel in Unawatuna

Difficult to get rooms in Unawatuna, but finally we got the Peacock. The rooms were good but boring and expensive, but the view can be very forgiving. I will stop talking about lonly planet. It is better to se their website.
Peacock

View from our room. The water is like in Mirissa blau-green. The beach has a problem, you can not go there without wading up to their knees. Restaurantes and hotels are built into the water. With a water upward gradient which today is 3 mm and are likely to increase to 4-5 mm per year. Unawatuna will have major problems ahead.

Ganesh Garden Cabanas and Restaurant in Tangalle

This is a nice and clean hotel, the food is exellent. Baby who owns the hotel is also a funny guy. The beach has to be experienced, fate as a desert. Those who are tired of beachboys will go here. Se their website.
Ganesh Garden

Fantastic that families with small children will find this desolate spot. Click on the picture to get it bigger.

All kinds of people can be satisfied here.

So the prices again. Lonly planet says max 1500Rp. The truth is that during high season price is 2500-3100 Rp. Low 1700-2500. High season is dec, jan, feb and aug.
All cabanas have hot water, very good Baby. Now I am just waiting on the WLAN facility.

Hotel Palm Villa in Mirissa

A wounderful beach with blue green water. Very suitable for families with children. The best hotel is Paradise Beach Club, but a doubel room costs 8000 Rp. (70 $) a bit too much for my cash. However, I can recommend thair restaurant, and if you are lucky, you get Aruna as waiter

We look at lonly planet and find Palm Villa. According lonly planet the maximum price is 1500 Rp. We had to pay 4500 for 4 bed room, but consistently good standard.

A nice and clean rooms but the best is the new fan. A KDK fan type A56XR. I will change my veary fan in Nr:01. For more information see:
The KDK fan

To reach the hotel by the beach.

To reach the hotel from main street.

With train from Kalutara-North to Mirissa

A good choice might be to take the train in Sri Lanka. If the train will stopp in both Kalutara-North and Mirissa, there is only one dayly connection. See schedule.
Sri Lanka Railways

2nd class carriages are close to the locomotive.

After Galle, we were alone. In the photo you see my son Peter and his wife Jenny. (but unmarried)

Not so bad, useful

Arriving in Mirissa 20 minutes late and now we have to take a tuk-tuk to the beach which is at least 3 km away.
