A good choice might be to take the train in Sri Lanka. If the train will stopp in both Kalutara-North and Mirissa, there is only one dayly connection. See schedule.

Arriving in Mirissa 20 minutes late and now we have to take a tuk-tuk to the beach which is at least 3 km away.
